The sixteenth Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) (#COP16) began today in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
With the participation of the delegation of the Republic of Yemen, headed by His Excellency the Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries, Major General / Salem Abdullah Al-Socotri, and Mr. Fouad Al-Faqih, Deputy Director of the Office of Social Affairs and Labor;
The multi-day conference will address a number of pivotal issues, including strengthening land sustainability initiatives, confronting the effects of climate change, developing comprehensive strategies to deal with desertification and drought, in addition to reviewing periodic reports on the efforts made by the States parties to the Convention, and the extent of progress made in achieving its goals.
The conference will also address the importance of justice in financing and support for developing countries suffering from conflicts and wars, and discuss the importance of flexible financing in line with the requirements of combating desertification, and combating climate change to achieve sustainable development goals..
